There are many different ways to successfully promote a site, we will list some ideas below.
- Provide meta tag keyword and descriptions to us, so we can optimize your meta tags, anchor text and keyword density. Also provide descriptive text to us for your home page that includes your keywords and/or key phrases.
- Search engines use the above mentioned meta tags and keyword density to rank sites, but it is not the only thing used. Links in to your site are also a very big factor on how you rank in search results, that is why we included the link exchange software for your site. Users can automatically exchange links (with no work from you, as the software checks their site for your link). Or you can manually add links from the admin panel. Until you start gaining popularity and traffic from the search engines, the manual way will be the best choice.
- Another way to gain link popularity and Google Page Rank fairly fast is by joining topsites and counter sites. You want to join the sites that provide a link back to your site, in exchange for you placing their small banner code on your site. (you would provide this to us and we would insert into your footer of your site pages). Keep in mind that the higher the Google Page Rank is on the page your link will display, the better off you are.
- When you do link exchanges, you are going to get very little (if any) traffic from the site you are placing your link on. The purpose of link exchanges is to boost your site in the search engines for specific keywords. "anchor text" is the text used to link back to your site, and search engines use this to value your site for each keyword. So when filling out reciprocal link exchange forms, or topsite and counter memberships, make sure you use your keywords for the site title section. As the site title section is usually always the text link. Think about it: Your store is Bob's Stuff and you sell widgets. You get 30 reciprocal links with a title of "Bob's Stuff", instead of "Widgets". You boosted your search rankings for "Bob's Stuff" when you should by trying to boost your search for "widgets". After all, how many searches are going to be made for bobs stuff vs widgets.
- Another great way to build traffic and sales to your site is by building a client base over time. Selling in online auction format, and letting you buyers know your web address in correspondence after the sale. If you provide excellent customer service as well as a good product, that customer has a very good chance of coming back to your store later.
- Include a signature in your emails, that includes your web address as well as a title for your store. You can set this up to automatically insert in all your emails. If you are unsure how to do this, you may want to check your ISP's help section or do a search on the internet.
